Al Waleed was born on March 7, 1955, in Jordan to Prince Talal and Mona Al Solh. His father, who was the Finance minister, was overthrown from power and forced into exile. Waleed lived with his mother in Lebanon after his parents divorced in 1969. During his younger days, he was undisciplined and would often escape from home and sleep in cars parked on the streets.

Career

After graduating from Menlo College in 1979, Talal returned to Saudi Arabia to start his own business. He ventured into real estate and construction, taking advantage of the country’s booming oil business. He acquired the underperforming United Saudi Commercial Bank and merged it with other enterprises, making it one of the best financial organizations in the Middle East. He also invested in companies like Citicorp, AOL, Apple Inc., and the Four Seasons group of hotels.
