Alan Bersten’s Career

Alan Bersten began his dancing career at the age of seven. He quickly became involved in competitions and achieved great success, winning the Youth Championship and the Under 21 National Titles. His talent and skill led him to participate in season 10 of the reality dance competition, ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, where he finished in the top 6. One of his standout performances on the show was a blindfolded contemporary dance that left the audience in awe.

After his time on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, Bersten joined his fellow dancers from the show on a tour across North America. They later embarked on their own tour called ‘Burn the Floor’. Upon his return, Bersten was cast in a recurring role in season six of the TV show ‘Glee’.

Bersten has been a part of ABC’s dance show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for five seasons. He has also participated in a tour with other members of the show. In season 24, he was partnered with celebrity Heather Morris, and in season 25, he made his debut as a pro dancer with popular singer/songwriter Debbie Gibson.

Surgery & Return to Dancing

In April 2018, Alan Bersten revealed that he needed surgery for a tumor in his neck. He had been experiencing severe stomach pain and a blood test revealed that he had hyperparathyroidism caused by a tumor. Bersten underwent an operation to remove his left parathyroid gland. After recovering, he returned to the stage of ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
