Bill Hemmer is an American journalist who currently works for ‘Fox News’ as a co-anchor for the show ‘America’s Newsroom.’ With a passion for broadcasting that began in high school, Hemmer has had an impressive career in the industry. After earning a BA degree in broadcast journalism from ‘Miami University,’ he gained experience as a radio disc jockey and interned at the ‘NBC’ affiliate in Cincinnati. Childhood & Early Life

Bill Hemmer was born on November 14, 1964, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to William R Hemmer and Georganne M Knittle. He is the middle child and the second son in a family of five children. Bill’s father worked as an executive in a mattress manufacturing company, while his mother worked as a high-school teacher.

Bill studied at the ‘Our Lady of Victory Catholic’ parochial school before enrolling at the ‘Elder High School’ in Cincinnati. During his senior year at the ‘Elder High School,’ Bill started a radio show along with his friends, which sparked his interest in a future career in broadcast journalism.

Following his high-school graduation, Bill enrolled at the ‘Miami University’ and pursued a BA degree in broadcast journalism. He was also involved in extracurricular activities and was a member of the ‘Delta Tau Delta’ fraternity. He briefly studied at the ‘Miami University Dolibois European Center’ in Luxembourg City.

Career

While still in college, Bill did internships at local radio stations and worked at Cincinnati’s ‘CNN’ affiliate. He realized his interest in working on live TV while working on sports productions. After college, he worked as a sports producer for ‘WLWT-TV’ and made his debut as an anchor for ‘CBS’s ‘WCPO-TV’ as a sports anchor.

However, he took a break from work to travel and spent a year traveling around China, India, Nepal, and other Asian countries. He worked in Mother Teresa’s clinics in Kolkata, India, for a few weeks and shared his experiences through dispatches and tapes. He won two regional ‘Emmy Awards’ for his work.

After his return, he resumed working at ‘WCPO’ before getting the opportunity to work at ‘CNN.’ He hosted several programs for the channel, including ‘American Morning,’ ‘CNN Tonight,’ ‘CNN Early Edition,’ and ‘CNN Live Today.’ He covered major events such as the 1996 Olympics, the 2000 presidential election recount, and the 9/11 attacks.

In 2005, Bill joined ‘Fox’ and covered events such as Hurricane Katrina, the war between Israel and Hezbollah, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, and the Boston Marathon bombing. He currently works as a co-anchor on ‘Fox’s morning news show titled ‘America’s Newsroom.’

Bill Hemmer had been in a long-term relationship with Canadian actor and model Dara Tomanovich. The couple dated for 8 years before breaking up. Bill grew up in a religious Roman Catholic family and considers himself a staunch Christian. He is a supporter of the American troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2013, he was awarded the ‘Elder High School Professional Distinction Award.’
