Childhood & Early Life
Brooke Baldwin, born Lauren Brooke Baldwin on July 12, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia, is the daughter of Steven Robert Baldwin and Christine King Fulton. She attended ‘The Westminster Schools’ in Atlanta and graduated from the ‘University of North Carolina’ (UNC) in Chapel Hill in 2001, majoring in journalism and Spanish. During her time as an undergraduate, Brooke also studied at the ‘Universidad Iberoamericana’ in Mexico City.
Career
Brooke’s career as a journalist began in 2001 when she was hired by ‘WVIR-TV,’ an ‘NBC’-affiliated TV station in Virginia. She then became the morning anchor for ‘WOWK-TV’ in the Huntington and Charleston areas. Brooke later joined ‘WTTG,’ a ‘Fox’-owned-and-operated news channel in Washington, DC, where she served as the lead reporter for the 10 pm bulletin. She covered significant events such as the shooting massacres at ‘Virginia Tech’ and the ‘West Nickel Mines School,’ as well as the ‘Sago Mine’ collapse and Martha Stewart’s release from federal prison.
In 2008, Brooke joined ‘CNN’ and ‘Headline News’ (HLN) networks and contributed to their award-winning coverage of the 2008 presidential election. She also reported on the discovery of the Mayan City of Mirador in 2009.
