Childhood & Early Life

Camila Sodi Gonzalez (or Camila Ía González Sodi) was born on May 14, 1986, in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico, to Ernestina Sodi and Fernando González Parra. Camila is a member of the famous Sodi family of Mexico, who are descendants of Demetrio Sodi Candiani, who was a landlord of the Mexican state of Oaxaca and senator of Michoacán during the rule of General Porfirio Díaz. Camila has two younger half-sisters, Tessa Ía and Naian Gonzalez Norvind, through her father. Both her sisters are actors. Some sources mention another younger sister, Marina, and a brother, Giovanni. Her mother works as an editor. She is the niece of singer/actor Thalía (maternal aunt) and actor Laura Zapata (maternal half-aunt).

Career

Camila Sodi began her career as a model. She then appeared as a host on a music show on the Mexican channel TeleHit. She also gained fame for her role in the hit Mexican telenovela Inocente de Ti, co-starring with Valentino Lanús and Helena Rojo, from 2004 to 2005. She appeared in a total of 130 episodes of the telenovela, as Flor de María “Florecita” González.

In 2007, Camila starred in her debut feature film, El búfalo de la noche (The Night Buffalo), as Rebeca. The same year, she was seen as Pía in Niñas mal (Bad Girls) and as Elisa in Déficit. The following year, she appeared as Lilia Ascencio in Arráncame la vida. In 2014, she appeared in the short film El despertar and was seen as Andrea in Amor de mis amores.

Camila Sodi met actor, singer, and filmmaker Diego Luna while working on her debut film The Night Buffalo in 2007. The duo got married on February 5, 2008, and then moved to the U.S. On August 12, 2008, at age 22, Camila gave birth to her first child, her son, Jerónimo Luna, in Los Angeles. Two years later, on July 1, 2010, she had her second child, her daughter, Fiona Luna. Fiona was named after Diego’s mother, Fiona Alexander, who had died in a car crash 28 years before Fiona’s birth, when Diego was 2 years old. Camila Sodi and Diego Luna broke up in March 2013 and eventually divorced. In February 2017, Camila started dating Chicharito Hernández. Following the divorce, Diego moved back to Mexico, as he wished to raise his children away from the limelight and as normal kids. However, both Camila and Diego now co-parent their children, and the kids are often seen accompanied by both parents at various events.
