Childhood & Early Life
Chance Hogan was born in 1998 or 1999 to Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski. He has five half-siblings through his father, Brett Hogan, Clay Hogan, Todd Hogan, Scott Hogan, and Lauren Hogan.
Paul Hogan is an icon in his home country of Australia. He garnered international fame for portraying the eponymous character in the Crocodile Dundee film series. A native of Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, he was raised in Granville in Western Sydney. Later, he was employed as a rigger on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a contestant on Nine Network’s amateur talent program ‘New Faces’ in 1971. During his appearance, he mocked the judges who had garnered notoriety for mocking the contestants on the show. His performance was received positively by the viewers and he subsequently landed a regular gig on Nine’s news magazine program ‘A Current Affair’. During his time there, he became acquainted with John Cornell, who assumed the position of Hogan’s manager and business partner.
In 1973, he starred in his own comedy sketch program ‘The Paul Hogan Show’, on which he also served as the producer and writer. The show was a hit in Australia and South Africa and demonstrated the trademark attribute of his comedy, light-hearted but laddish ocker humour. In 1971, he was involved in Winfield cigarettes’ advertisement campaign and was featured on television, print and billboard selling the product. He played a pivotal role in making Winfield a national brand. Hogan made his acting debut in 1985 in Nine’s critically acclaimed miniseries ‘Anzacs’, portraying an Australian World War I ‘digger’ named Pat Cleary. In 1986, he played the role of Crocodile Dundee for the first time in the eponymous film. Hogan was one of the co-writers of the film and it garnered critical and commercial success in several countries. For his performance, Hogan received the 1987 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy as well as the Best Actor nomination at the BAFTA Awards. The screenplay of the film received nominations for an Academy Award, a BAFTA and a Saturn Award. That year, he also served as the co-host of the 59th Academy Awards along with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. The first sequel to the film, ‘Crocodile Dundee II’ was released in 1988. Hogan reprised his role and went on to star in the third film in the franchise as well, ‘Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles’.
Chance’s mother is also a prominent actress. Originally from Fairfield, Connecticut, USA, Kozlowski attended Juilliard as a student of drama. She graduated in 1981 and began her acting career on stage. Kozlowski made her debut in the 1981 off-Broadway production, ‘How It All Began’. She had her screen debut in 1982, in an episode of CBS’ medical-drama ‘Nurse’. Her first cinematic role was against her future husband, Hogan, in the first instalment of the Crocodile Dundee films.
Prior to Kozlowski, Hogan was married twice to Noelene Edwards. They first married in 1958 and divorced in 1981, only to remarry a year later. However, Hogan divorced Edwards a second time in 1990 because of his relationship with Kozlowski. She and Hogan exchanged wedding vows on May 5, 1990. The marriage lasted 23 years before Kozlowski filed for divorce in October 2013, citing irreconcilable differences. It was finalised on July 23, 2014.
Later Years
After his parents’ separation, Chance stayed with his father. Dismissing rumours that her globe-trotting lifestyle has compelled Hogan to raise their son on his own, Kozlowski revealed that Chance preferred to live with his father as his house had a “teen hangout room”.
As he grew up, Chance became more and more interested in music. He has formed a punk band named Rowdy P with two other members. They are predominantly active in Los Angeles.
There have been multiple reports about his “wayward” and “troubled” behaviour in recent years. In May 2018, he was seen vomiting on a street corner after his performance with Rowdy P at a nearby music venue. He has also been photographed while smoking. While his father was part of the legendary campaign for Winfield, he has come to regret his involvement in it and started supporting cancer charities. According to reports, Hogan is at his “wit’s end” over Chance’s recent antics.
