Chrissy Costanza, also known as Christina Nicola Costanza, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She is a member of the pop-rock group ‘Against the Current’ and hails from a family of music lovers in New Jersey. Chrissy joined the band in 2011 after meeting bandmates Daniel Gow and Will Ferri through a mutual friend. Together, they have released several EPs and their debut album ‘In Our Bones’ in 2016. Known for their innovative sound, Against the Current is considered one of the most exciting bands in the industry today. They have also embarked on various music tours, including the 2018 Fall Out Boy – MANIA tour.

In early 2011, Dan Gow, Will Ferri, Joe Simmons, and Jeremy Rompala formed the pop-rock group Against the Current. Later that summer, Costanza joined the group after meeting Gow, Ferri, and Rompala through a mutual friend. They started by creating a YouTube channel in August 2011 and began uploading content in July 2012. Over time, they gained a loyal following and mainstream attention. As of 2018, their channel has nearly two million subscribers and 300 million views.

During their early period, they collaborated with other YouTube cover artists like Alex Goot and Sam Tsui. In 2012, they released their debut non-album single, “Thinking.” The following year, they released “Closer, Faster,” a single from their upcoming EP “Infinity.” They also released their second non-album single, “Guessing,” that year.

On May 27, 2014, they independently released their first EP “Infinity,” which reached the 28th spot on the US Heatseekers Albums chart. They spent the rest of the year touring to promote the album. They released an acoustic version of “Infinity” on November 27, 2014.

They then recorded their third EP, “Gravity,” which was also distributed online. It reached the fourth spot on the US Heatseekers Albums chart. On July 10, 2015, they released an acoustic version of “Gravity,” their fourth and most recent EP.

On March 4, 2015, Against the Current signed a record deal with Fueled By Ramen record label. From August to November 2015, they embarked on a four-month tour to promote “Gravity,” performing in North America, Europe, and Asia.

On August 1, 2015, they announced the completion of their first studio album, “In Our Bones.” It was released on May 20, 2016, and reached the second spot on the US Heatseekers Albums chart. The album consists of 12 tracks, including the singles “Running with the Wild Things,” “Runaway,” “Wasteland,” and “Young & Relentless.” Costanza contributed as a lyricist to all the songs on the album. They embarked on the “In Our Bones” tour on September 6, 2016, performing in various countries before ending the tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 18, 2017.

They have also performed in various other tours and festivals, including the “Sink or Swim Tour 2014,” “Glamour Kills Spring Break ’15 Tour,” “Download Festival” in 2016, and “Reading and Leeds Festivals” in 2017. The current lineup of the group includes Costanza (vocals), Gow (lead guitar and backup vocals), and Ferri (drums and backup vocals).

Personal Life

Costanza was born on August 23, 1995, in New Jersey, USA. Her mother’s name is Elizabeth Costanza, and she has a brother named Mikey. Although her parents do not sing or play any instruments, they have always supported her love for music. She attended Fordham University in New York City.

Costanza cites Katy Perry and John Mayer as her inspirations. She has been in a relationship with Cameron Hurley, the guitarist of We Are the In Crowd, since 2015.
