Childhood & Early Life
Christopher Mintz-Plasse was born on June 20, 1989, in Woodland Hills, California, to Ray and Ellen Plasse. His father comes from a Christian family, while his mother belongs to a Jewish family. Mintz-Plasse is the great-grandson of American film producers Charles Mintz and MJ Winkler, with his great-grandmother playing an important role in the early development of animation films in Hollywood. He attended El Camino High School from 2003 to 2007 and has been interested in acting since a young age. He was part of his school’s improv team and began acting in the first grade.
Career
Christopher Mintz-Plasse got his first big break in Hollywood in 2007 with the film “Superbad,” a coming-of-age teen comedy. He played the role of McLovin, which earned him praise from critics and audiences. He went on to appear in David Wain’s comedy film “Role Models” in 2008, alongside Seann William Scott and Paul Rudd. In 2009, he starred in the comedy “Year One,” directed by Harold Ramis, where he portrayed the comic version of Issac. In 2016, rumors about his sexual orientation arose after he posted a picture online kissing another guy with religious banners protesting against homosexuality in the background.
