Childhood & Early Life

Dorothy was born on August 18, 1959, in Harris County, Texas, US. She was the daughter of George HW Bush and Barbara Bush. Dorothy had five siblings: George W Bush, Robin Bush, Jeb Bush, Marvin Bush, and Neil Bush. Her brother George W Bush later became the 43rd president of the US, and Jeb Bush became the governor of Florida. Sadly, Dorothy’s sister Robin passed away at the age of 3 due to leukemia.

Early Life and Education

Dorothy’s family moved around frequently before settling in Houston, Texas. She spent much of her childhood at the Bush compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. Dorothy completed her schooling at Miss Porter’s School in Connecticut. In 1975, she visited China and became the first person to receive a public baptism after the government’s crackdown on foreign religious practices. Dorothy obtained a BA degree in sociology from Boston College in 1982.

Career

Dorothy is an event organizer and actively works for various charities. She has been involved in the presidential campaigns of her brother George W Bush. Dorothy is also an author and has written a book titled “My Father, My President: A Personal Account of the Life of George H.W. Bush.” The book provides an insider’s view of her father’s experiences as a vice president and president, as well as his roles as an ambassador, businessman, and director of the CIA. Dorothy wrote the book using her personal recollections, interviews with her father and his colleagues, and her father’s personal papers and notes. She successfully portrayed her father as a loving parent with a humorous side, challenging the perception of him as solely a serious businessman and political leader.

Personal Life

Dorothy has always valued her relationships with family and friends. She had a close bond with her father and would often seek his advice on important matters. After her father’s passing, Dorothy reminisced about the bedtime stories he would read to her and their conversations about her late sister Robin. Dorothy has been married twice. Her first marriage was to William Heekin LeBlond, and they had two children together before divorcing in 1990. She then married Robert P Koch, also known as Bobby Koch, in 1992. They have two children and currently reside in Bethesda, Maryland.
