Fillippa Coster-Waldau was born in October 2000, in Denmark, to Nikolaj and Nukâka Coster-Waldau. She grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark, along with her sister Safina Niviaaluk Coster-Waldau. Born into a family of actors, Fillippa was exposed to performing arts early in her life. Her mother had appeared in a couple of films, while her father made his Hollywood debut when she was still a toddler. Inspired by the works of her parents, Fillippa decided to follow in their footsteps. She made her acting debut at the age of 14 when she was cast to play Mette in the short drama-mystery film ‘The Girl and the Dogs’ (2014). In the film, Fillippa appeared alongside actors like Caroline Stein Frandsen and Lea Monrad Post. Written and directed by Guillaume Mainguet and Selma Vilhunen, ‘The Girl and the Dogs’ was screened at the 67th ‘Cannes Film Festival’ which was held from 14 to 25 May 2014 in Cannes, France.

Fillippa’s mother, Nukâka Coster-Waldau, is a Greenlandic singer and actress. She has acted in several films, such as ‘Det grå guld,’ ‘Eksperimentet,’ ‘Himmerland,’ and ‘White Night.’ In 2007, Nukâka played a prominent role in the popular Danish police procedural television series ‘The Killing.’

Fillippa is close to her father, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, with whom she travels to various places. In one of his Instagram posts, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau had mentioned that Fillippa was once worried about falling behind at school while staying in Australia with her father.
