Heath Ledger was born on April 4, 1979, in Perth, Australia. His parents, Kim and Sally Ledger, had different careers – his mother was a French teacher and his father was a race car driver. Heath attended Mary’s Mount Primary School and Guildford Grammar School. At the age of ten, he played the role of Peter Pan in a school play.
At the age of 17, Heath decided to pursue a career in acting and dropped out of school. He quickly landed a role in the 1996 television series “Sweat” where he played a gay man.
Career
In 1997, Heath had two opportunities in the form of the fantasy action adventure series “Roar” and the Australian soap opera “Home and Away”. He also made his movie debut in the Australian film “Blackrock” where he played the role of Toby Ackland.
In 1999, Heath was cast in the American comedy film “10 Things I Hate About You” and also starred in the Australian crime film “Two Hands”. He continued to make a name for himself in Hollywood with roles in films like “The Patriot” and “Monster’s Ball”.
