Jaymi Hensley is a British pop singer and reality TV personality best known for being a member of the boy band ‘Union J’. He rose to fame after participating in the ninth series of ‘The X Factor’ in 2012, where the band finished fourth. Since then, Hensley has released two albums with Union J and has had several popular songs. In addition to his music career, he has also appeared on various TV shows, including ‘Pointless Celebrities’ and ‘Just Tattoo of Us’. Currently, Hensley is a contestant on the celebrity version of ‘MasterChef Goes Large’.

The Meteoric Rise to Stardom
Jaymi Hensley and Josh Cuthbert met while studying performing arts at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Westminster. Cuthbert had previously auditioned for ‘The X Factor’ but didn’t make it past the bootcamp stage. However, he was in touch with Blair Dreelan of Alpha Dog Management, who wanted to put him in a band. Dreelan formed a band with Hensley and Cuthbert, and later added Jamie “JJ” Hamblett, naming the band ‘Triple J’. Hensley also auditioned for ‘The X Factor’ in 2012 and made it through several stages, but eventually lost to GMD3. However, after another band withdrew from the show, the producers offered Triple J a chance to return if they added George Shelley. The band was renamed ‘Union J’ and advanced to judges’ houses. They gained a huge following on social media and signed a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment. Their debut single ‘Carry You’ reached number six on the UK singles chart.
Beyond Fame
Jaymi Hensley is not only known for his role in the band, but also for his advocacy for LGBT causes. He came out as gay when he was fourteen and received support from his family and friends. His mentor on ‘The X Factor’, Louis Walsh, encouraged him to come out publicly, and he did so in 2012 with the support of his band mates. Hensley has been in a relationship with hairstylist Olly Marmon since 2009 and the couple got engaged in 2014. He has also been close to his former band mate George Shelley and addressed rumors of jealousy within the band, stating that the decision to part ways was mutual.
