She would often get requests from her followers to join YouTube and come in front of the camera. It took some time to convince her, but she joined YouTube in December 2014. Soon after, her videos went viral and started to trend on the website.

Starting as a fun activity to spend time, YouTube soon became her career. She now has over 2.8 million subscribers on YouTube. She created a second YouTube channel called “Vee Vlogs” in July 2015.

What Makes Jessii So Special

According to Jessii Vee, her videos can be summed up as “story time” videos, aptly named “Vee Time.” She claims to talk about “true stories” from her “crazy” life experiences. Topics for her videos range from serious issues like depression to fun stereotypical portrayals of people. Most of her videos are usually characterized by her unique blend of humor, no matter whether she is ranting on annoying shoppers and neighbors or chatting about her friends, family, and relationships. Jessii herself thinks that the reason behind the popularity of her videos is that her videos are real and that she never fakes emotions to gain views. Her videos appeal particularly to parents of the younger generation because of the fact that she posts videos that are focused on a family-oriented audience and do not contain any kind of abusive language.

Beyond Fame

Jessii herself, however, was subjected to abuse when she first created her channel and started to post videos. Some of her viewers had posted negative and hurtful comments on her initial videos, which was a setback for the aspiring vlogger. While she has a charming personality for which she is loved by her fans, she has been criticized a number of times for various reasons. In one case, a fan criticized her for $12 tickets for a “Meet and Greet” she organized. However, she claimed that she doesn’t earn from such events and that the money goes to rent the venue. Another time she was criticized for monetizing her fame by launching her own merchandise when she had only a few thousand subscribers. Once again, Jessii clarified that she did it following requests from numerous fans. A lot of people often mention that all her stories cannot be “true stories” as she often claims, but according to Jessii, her friends and family watch her videos regularly and would be the first ones to call out lies if she posts them.

Behind The Curtains

Jessii Vee was born in Ontario, Canada, where she lives with her parents, Gavin and Niki, and her sister Mandi. Her family members often make guest appearances in her videos. Her mother is also a YouTuber and shares a channel with her sister. Her father, however, took some time to familiarize himself with the way social media works. Despite their initial concerns about the negativity on the internet, her parents are proud of Jessii’s achievements. Jessii had been in a relationship with her longtime boyfriend Kyle, whom she has known for over 6 years. They were together for 5 years, but they broke up a few weeks ago. Considering that they had made their relationship public and that Kyle had appeared in many of her videos, she decided to make a video to inform her fans about the development. She insisted that they separated on good terms and are still friends and requested her fans not to direct any hatred towards her former boyfriend. In 2019, she married Tye.

She once put her crush’s name on her Twitter bio by mistake, which she considers her biggest embarrassing moment.
