Jocqui Smollett founded ‘Next Level: Advancement to Cultural Understanding’ in 2008 while still a student. He remained the president of the group until 2010. In 2010, he also founded ‘Raising The Bar’, an initiative aimed at improving math and science performances among youth in underprivileged communities. Throughout his education, he held various positions such as field manager, assistant financial operating officer, and research assistant. After completing his education, he worked in sales operations and data analysis roles at different companies.

Jocqui Smollett was born on August 2, 1994, in Santa Rosa, California, to actors Janet and Joel Smollett. His father was of Jewish American descent, while his mother is of African-American heritage. Jocqui attended Calabasas High School and went on to earn a dual bachelor’s degree in global economics and pure mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
