Childhood & Early Life

Kane, whose real name is Glenn Thomas Jacobs, was born on April 26, 1967, in Torrejon de Ardoz, Spain. He was born into a US Air Force family, as his parents were stationed in Spain at the time. However, they later moved to the US. Glenn grew up near St. Louis, Missouri and attended Truman State University, where he earned a degree in English Literature.

Early Career

Glenn made his wrestling debut in 1992 with the CSWA in St. Louis, Missouri. He went by the ring name “Angus King” during this time. He then moved to the USWA, where he appeared as “Doomsday.” In SMW, he wrestled as “Unabomb” and held the SMW Tag Team Championship with Al Snow. Jacobs also held the USWA Heavyweight Championship for a while. In 1993, he had his only match in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) under the ring name “Bruiser Mastino,” where he was defeated by Sting. He also competed in the World Wrestling Council (WWC) in 1994-95, facing the Invader #1.

Career

Jacobs made his World Wrestling Federation (WWF) debut on February 20, 1995, under the ring name “Mike Unabomb.” He defeated Reno Riggins in a match on Raw. His first television appearance on Raw came on June 26, 1996, where he portrayed Jerry Lawler’s private dentist, “Issac Yankem.” He made his in-ring debut on August 15, 1996, against Bret Hart, but lost via countout. He was then introduced as “Diesel” in September 1996, teaming up with Rick Bognar (known as “Razor Ramon”). He later adopted the ring name “Kane,” which became his iconic persona. Kane’s character was built as The Undertaker’s long-lost half-brother who came to WWE to challenge him. This storyline was revealed by The Undertaker’s former manager, Paul Bearer. Kane’s debut as “Kane” took place on October 5, 1997, against Shawn Michaels at Badd Blood: In Your House. He wore a red and black mask and attire, with long hair that complemented his monstrous appearance. Kane’s feud with The Undertaker continued for a while, with memorable matches and moments.

In addition to his wrestling career, Jacobs has also appeared in movies such as “See No Evil” (2006), “MacGruber” (2010), “See No Evil 2” (2014), and “Countdown” (2016). In March 2017, he announced his official run for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018 as a Republican candidate.
