Childhood & Early Life

Kaniehtiio Horn was born in Ottawa, Canada, on 8 November 1986. She grew up in Ottawa, as well as the Kahnawake Mohawk reserve outside of Montreal. Her father was a lawyer, and her mother, Kahn-Tineta Horn, was a former model and a political activist.

At an early age, Kaniehtiio decided to pursue a career in acting. She was also interested in swimming and water polo. She finished her graduation from Dawson College, in 2005, for theatre arts, after which she appeared in few short films, such as ‘The Colony’, which premiered at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival.


Kaniehtiio Horn had made her television debut in 2006 in the miniseries ‘Indian Summer: The Oka Crisis’. She next appeared in multiple television movies such as ‘Too Young to Marry’, ‘Moccasin Flats: Redemption’, and ‘The Terrorist Next Door’.
