Childhood & Early Life

Kari Matchett was born on March 25, 1970, in Spalding, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Spalding and later moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, where she attended high school at the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. During her teenage years, she developed an interest in acting and pursued professional training at the National Theatre School in Montreal and the Moscow Theatre School. She also graduated from Red Deer College. While in Ontario, she became involved with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, where she did theatre for three years and began auditioning for roles in films and television.

Kari made her acting debut in 1996 in the Canadian television series “The Rez,” where she played a supporting role.
