Music Career

Kidd G released his debut single, “Sorry,” a traditional hip-hop song, on SoundCloud in February 2019. He started filming short clips of himself rapping and posted them on his TikTok profile. As the videos gained popularity, he decided to pursue music more seriously and convinced his parents to set up a studio in his bedroom. With the help of a friend, he recorded several songs per day during the holiday break. Although his early songs were good, they didn’t become the Billboard hits he was expecting. However, the skepticism from people around town encouraged him to continue making music, which he uploaded on SoundCloud and promoted on TikTok.

In the spring of 2020, Kidd G’s genre-bending music caught the attention of the hip-hop focused Miami-based label and management company Rebel Music, which signed a deal with him. In October of that year, he released the peppy breakup ballad “Dirt Road,” which became a viral hit on TikTok and reached No.40 on Billboard’s hot country songs chart.

Music Career Continued

Kidd G’s early music focused on hip-hop and rap, but he also ventured into country music with his debut EP, “Teenage Dream.” The EP, released in November 2020, included songs like “Dirt Road,” “Small Town Girl,” and “Passin’ Thru.” It was a critical hit and peaked at No.3 on Billboard’s heatseekers albums chart. In December, he released a deluxe version of the album, titled “Teenage Dream: 1000 Miles From Georgia,” which added four songs to the original album. His debut studio album, “Down Home Boy,” was released in September 2021 and received 15 million streams on Spotify alone. He has since released several more singles, including “Left Me,” “Dirt Road” remix, and “People Talk.”

Kidd G, born as Jonathan Gabriel “Gabe” Horne on April 21, 2003, in Hamilton, Georgia, comes from a supportive family. He has an older brother named Dustin. Before pursuing music, Kidd G was interested in baseball and fishing and had received two college scholarships for fishing.
