Childhood & Early Life
Larry David was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Morty David and Rose David. He grew up in a Jewish family and was the younger of two sons. He attended Sheepshead Bay High School and later graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in History in 1969. He then studied Business Administration at the same institute.
Career
In the early 1970s, Larry David started attending acting classes in Manhattan while working as a stand-up comedian. He took on various jobs to support himself, including working as a salesman and a cab driver. He made his debut as a stand-up comedian at Folk City in Greenwich Village in 1974.
From 1979 to 1982, he worked as a scriptwriter and actor for the American Broadcasting Company’s (ABC) weekly late-night live comedy program called “Fridays”. He also worked as a writer for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” from 1984 to 1985.
In 1987, Larry David wrote the script for a television film titled “Norman’s Corner” and also wrote an episode of “The Gary Shandling Show”. In 1989, he co-created the American television series “Seinfeld” with Jerry Seinfeld, which became a huge success. He also acted in films like “Radio Days” and “New York Stories” in the late 1980s.
In 1998, Larry David wrote and directed the comedy film “Sour Grapes” and joined the team of “Seinfeld” as an executive producer for its final two seasons. He has also made guest appearances on shows like “Entourage” and was a part of “The Marriage Ref”.
