Childhood & Early Life

Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza, popularly known as Maine Mendoza, was born on March 3, 1995, in Santa Maria, Bulcan, Philippines. She comes from a large and affluent family, with her parents, Mary Ann Capili Mendoza and Teodoro Mendoza, Jr., being successful entrepreneurs who own several businesses, including Shell gas stations. Mendoza has two brothers and two sisters. She attended St. Paul College of Bocaue in Bulacan for high school and later graduated with courses in hotel management and culinary arts from De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. After graduation, she did a six-month internship at The Sagamore resort in upstate New York.

Even before her television debut, Mendoza was already a prolific blogger and active on social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Her Dubsmash video, in which she paid tribute to Philippine sensation Kris Aquino, went viral and made her an overnight YouTube sensation. After her TV debut in the Kalyeserye segment of the show Eat Bulagas! on July 16, 2015, Mendoza gained a surge of followers on her Twitter account and became known for having one of the fastest-growing personal accounts in the country.

Mendoza is known for her close relationship with her family, especially her sisters, whom she considers her best friends. Her father is one of her biggest fans and supporters. As of March 2018, her relationship status is unknown, and she is not believed to be dating anyone.

Causes and Philanthropy

Mendoza is passionate about several causes, including the welfare of the persecuted Lumads people in Mindanao and the importance of education. She regularly speaks up on these topics and organizes fundraisers to support various causes. In 2015, she participated in the Eat Bulaga! Tamang Panahon benefit concert, which raised PHP 14 million for the AlDub Library Project to promote reading among schoolchildren. Aside from her career in the entertainment industry, Mendoza is also an entrepreneur and owns a McDonald’s franchise in Santa Clara, Bulacan.
