Malu Trevejo released her debut single, Luna Llena, on September 22, 2017. The song was released through Universal Music Latin and has acquired over 119 million views as of February 2022. She released her second song En Mi Mente, in December 2017.

Controversy
In April 2020, while hosting an Instagram live, Malu Trevejo referred to COVID-19 as the “Chinese virus,” and stated, “I’m sorry — not trying to be racist or anything, but every time I see a Chinese person I go [inhalation noise]…don’t breathe.” The comment drew severe criticism from the Asian-American community and was dubbed as racist. Seven hours later, Malu Trevejo apologized for her comments.
