Childhood & Early Life
Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, was born on January 5, 1969, in Canton, Ohio, USA. He is the only son of Hugh Warner and Barbara Wyer. He is of mixed descent. As a young boy, he was molested repeatedly by a neighbor, which led him to start writing poems and songs as a means of coping with his pain and trauma. He attended ‘Heritage Christian School’ and was made to attend church regularly, which instilled in him an aversion for all things religion. He later attended ‘Glen Oak High School’ and graduated in 1987.
Career
In 1989, Marilyn Manson formed the band ‘Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids’ with guitarist Scott Putesky. The band was later renamed ‘Marilyn Manson.’ After playing in clubs for four years, they caught the attention of Trent Reznor in 1993, who helped them release their debut album ‘Portrait of an American Family’ in 1994. The album became a hit. They released the EP ‘Smells Like Children’ in 1995, which was full of controversial songs related to drugs and childhood abuse.
