Megan Thee Stallion began her rap career in her teenage years, incorporating explicit sexual content into her lyrics. During her time at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, she gained attention on social media after participating in a ‘cypher battle’ with boys. This experience made her realize the power of digital media and she started creating her own rap videos and using her Instagram account to connect with her audience. Her following quickly grew as she uploaded freestyle videos and established herself on the platform.
In 2016, she released her first mixtape titled ‘Rich Ratchet,’ which featured popular tracks like ‘Like a Stallion.’ The following year, she released her first extended play called ‘Make It Hot,’ which received an overwhelming response on digital media. One of the singles from the EP, ‘Last Week in H TX,’ has accumulated nearly six million views on YouTube. Megan Pete, born on February 15, 1995, in Houston, Texas, was raised by her mother Holly Thomas, who was a former rapper known as Holly-Wood. Her mother supported her ambition to become a rapper but wanted her to mature before entering the industry. Holly Thomas had reservations about the explicit and provocative content of Megan’s songs.
After taking a short break, Megan Thee Stallion resumed her education in 2019 at Texas Southern University, where she is pursuing a degree in healthcare.
