Childhood & Early Life

Miguel Ángel Silvestre Rambla was born on April 6, 1982, in Castellón de la Plana, Spain. His father, Miguel Ángel Silvestre Vara, is a physiotherapist and a bank manager, and his mother’s name is María Lidón. As a child, Silvestre was passionate about tennis and dreamed of representing Spain internationally. However, he eventually realized that his talent in tennis would not be enough to fulfill his dreams. While studying to become a physiotherapist at the University of Spain, Silvestre’s father asked his aunt, a theater director, to assess his talent. This led Silvestre to discover his passion for acting.


Silvestre moved to Madrid and began taking theater, modern dance, and acrobatics classes. He performed in amateur plays and even produced a production with the help of a friend. In 2002, he won the Mister Castelló pageant and got his first break on TV in the Spanish sitcom Mis adorables vecinos. He then started working in films such as Vida y Color and A Golpes. His TV career also flourished, and he appeared in the suspense thriller series Motivos Personales.

Silvestre’s breakthrough role came in the movie La Distancia, where he played a battered boxer who ends up in jail. He gained recognition for his ability to bring life to any character he played. He continued to work in both TV and film, appearing in projects such as Sin tetas no hay paraíso, 3:19, and Zhao.

In 2013, Silvestre’s career took off when he landed a main role in the Spanish TV series Velvet and a role in Pedro Almodóvar’s comedy I’m So Excited. His performance in Velvet gained him international attention. He then auditioned for the Netflix series Sense8 and was cast as the closeted Spanish actor Lito Rodríguez. The show allowed him to shoot in 13 countries and gain fans worldwide.

After Sense8, Silvestre joined the cast of the Netflix series Narcos, playing real-life Colombian money launderer Franklin Jurado. He has since moved to Los Ángeles and continues to audition for major networks. He was also chosen by Jennifer Lopez to star in her music video for the song El Anillo.
