Career
Molly began her career as a production assistant in 2011, working on the short film ‘Royal Reunion.’ The following year, she worked on the production of ‘Men in Black 3’ as a production assistant. In the same year, Molly also worked as an assistant producer on the TV documentary ‘John Mulaney: New in Town.’
In 2013, Molly transitioned into stage production. She and her friend Justin Johnson moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where they began working on a stage play inspired by Johnson’s strange experience working in a stockroom in SoHo, Manhattan. The result was ‘Smile Swamp Princess,’ a rock opera co-composed by actor Megan Lui and directed by Molly’s niece, Eden Brolin. Molly focused on the props and costumes as the art director. To conduct research, Molly and Justin took a trip to Atchafalaya Basin, a wetland in Louisiana. The stage play premiered at the ‘Wild Project’ theater in New York’s East Village.
In 2018, Molly worked as an assistant producer on the ‘Hallmark Channel’ TV film ‘Royal Hearts,’ which was directed by her father and starred him as the lead. She also made a guest appearance in the 2018 film ‘Shadow of a Gun.’

Molly was born on November 28, 1987, in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are actor, producer, and director James Brolin and retired film and TV actor Jan Smithers. Molly’s parents got married in 1986, but they divorced in 1995 due to the strain caused by James’ frequent travel for work. Molly and her mother moved to the countryside for a more peaceful life, but she has remained in touch with both of her parents.
Molly is the stepdaughter of singer, songwriter, actor, and filmmaker Barbra Streisand and the half-sister of producer Jess Brolin. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
