Childhood & Early Life

Nia Lovelis, born as Szatania Angelika Morze Enea on January 1, 1997, grew up in the Orangetown area of New York. She was born into a musical family, with her mother, Ana Lovelis, being an actress and musician, and her father working as a touring keyboard tech and studio builder. Nia and her younger sister Rena developed an interest in music at a young age. Nia became interested in playing drums after her parents took her horseback riding and she became captivated by the rhythm.

The Meteoric Rise to Stardom

At the age of seven or eight, Nia started practicing on a set of Roland V-Drums that her parents had set up in the garage. She took lessons and joined a band camp to further improve her skills. However, she found the band camp experience depressing and decided to form her own “real band”. At the age of eleven, she responded to an ad looking for a teenage drummer and jammed with other talented girls at a rehearsal studio. In 2008, while still in middle school, Nia and her sister Rena, along with Julia Pierce and Miranda Miller, formed the all-girl hard rock group ‘Cherri Bomb’. The band has released multiple albums, extended plays, singles, and music videos.

Challenges

Starting her professional career at such a young age had its challenges. Nia was young and inexperienced, unaware of the physical stress drumming could cause. She also lacked knowledge about setting up her kit properly and holding her sticks to reduce stress on her body. After experiencing pain, she sought guidance from their manager and drummer Samantha Maloney, who helped her with proper positioning, stick control, warming up, and other techniques. Nia also learned from her favorite drummers by watching them perform.

Love Life

Nia Lovelis has been romantically linked to several musicians throughout her career. She was in a long-term relationship with Brennan Benko, a drummer for the indie rock band False Puppet. They broke up a couple of years ago. She has also been rumored to be dating bassist and vocalist Calum Hood since 2015.

Trivia

Nia Lovelis has at least six known tattoos on her body, including a butterfly on her upper back, vishuddha chakra on her forearm, writing on her biceps, and an exclamation mark on her wrist.
