Childhood & Early Life

Post Malone, born as Austin Richard Post on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York, USA, was raised by his father and stepmother after his parents divorced. His father, a former disc jockey, introduced him to various genres of music at a young age. When he was nine, his family moved to Texas after his father got a job as a manager for the Dallas Cowboys football team. It was during this time that Malone developed an interest in music after playing the video game ‘Guitar Hero.’ He auditioned for the American rock band ‘Crown the Empire’ at the age of 16 but was rejected. Malone created his first mixtape titled ‘Young and After Them Riches’ using the digital audio editor Audacity and shared it with his schoolmates.
