Childhood & Early Life

Scooter Braun, born Scott Samuel Braun on June 18, 1981, in New York City, USA, grew up in Cos Cob, Connecticut, with his siblings Adam and Liza. He attended Greenwich High School, where he served as the class president. At the age of 13, he started playing basketball in a sports organization called Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

While studying at Greenwich High School, Braun created a 10-minute video about Jews in Hungary titled “The Hungarian Conflict.” The video won regional and state competitions in a video-documentary contest held by the non-profit organization National History Day. It was then sent to Steven Spielberg, who submitted it to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Braun continued playing basketball in the Amateur Athletic Union until the age of 18. After graduating from high school, he attended Emory University in Atlanta, where he played college basketball. During his time at Emory University, he started organizing parties and was hired to plan after-parties at the Anger Management Tour, featuring artists like Eminem and Ludacris.

At 19 years old, Braun was offered a marketing position at Jermaine Dupri’s record label So So Def. By the age of 20, he became the record label’s executive director for marketing. However, he eventually dropped out of Emory University to focus on his career.

Career

After leaving So So Def, Braun started his own private venture and marketing business. He also ventured into producing documentary films. In 2007, he founded an entertainment and marketing company called SB Projects, which includes ventures like SB Management, Schoolboy Records, and Sheba Publishing. He also formed a joint venture with Usher called RBMG.

In 2011, Braun produced the documentary “Never Say Never” about pop star Justin Bieber, which became one of the highest-grossing documentaries in domestic box-office according to MTV. He served as an executive producer for the drama series “Scorpion” from 2014 to 2018. He also became Ariana Grande’s main manager in 2016 and formed Mythos Studios with David Maisel in 2018 to produce movie franchises.

In 2019, Braun’s holding company Ithaca Holdings acquired Big Machine Label Group.

Philanthropy
