Childhood & Early Life
Shawna was born on January 18, 1990, in Fontana, a suburb of Los Angeles. She grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, a nearby city. Shawna played for the varsity soccer team of the ‘Los Osos High School’ for 4 years and even led her team to two league championships. She was inducted into the league’s first-team four times and was awarded the title of the “most valuable player” (MVP) as a senior.
Shawna played for ‘Arsenal’ and participated in regional and ‘Olympic Development Program’ (ODP) camps for 5 consecutive years. In 2006, she got her ’90 Cal South ODP’ team an ‘ODP’ national championship title. Her team secured the second place for the same in the following year.
Shawna attended ‘California State University’ and played as a central midfielder for the ‘Long Beach State 49ers’ from 2008 to 2011. She led the team to three ‘Big West’ titles and also appeared in three ‘NCAA’ tournaments. In 2011, ‘Long Beach’ was named to the ‘NCAA Elite Eight,’ while Shawna was named the ‘Big West Conference Midfielder of the Year.’
Following her graduation, in 2013, Shawna was drafted by the ‘Boston Breakers’ for the first ‘National Women’s Soccer League’ (NWSL) season. It was supposed to be the beginning of her professional career at the senior level. However, she did not play a single game for the team. Following this, she pursued a career with clubs.
Career
Shawna was selected by the ‘Western Sydney Wanders FC’ in Australia for the 2013–2014 season. She played 10 games and scored a goal for the club. In December 2013, the ‘Western Sydney Wanders’ won against ‘Perth Glory FC.’ Shawna was named ‘W-League Player of the Week.’ In the summer of the following year, she scored 5 goals and served 5 assists for the ‘LA Blues,’ which led the team to their fourth ‘W-League’ championship.
Shawna then played for ‘Umea IK’ in Sweden’s ‘Damallsvenskan’ for the 2014 season. She remained with the team for about a year and then returned to the US to join ‘Sky Blue FC’ in New Jersey. In October 2014, Shawna was picked up by the ‘NWSL’ team ‘Sky Blue FC’ in New Jersey, as a left-footed midfielder. During the 2015 season, Shawna played 13 matches for the club and opened in 10 of them.
Internationally, Shawna had previously represented the US as part of their under-17 national team. In 2008, she joined the training camp for the US women’s national under-20 soccer team.
Family & Personal Life
Shawna was in a relationship with actor and former model Shemar Moore from 2014 to 2015. They had been spotted together in many public places. Shawna also attended ‘The Ellen Show’ with Shemar in February 2015. Shawna has not been rumored to date anyone since her break-up with Shemar and is believed to be single at present.
