Early Career
Sofia Vassilieva’s career began at a young age. At just seven years old, she caught the attention of the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) and was awarded Child Actress and first runner-up Child Model of The Year 2000. Within a year, she started receiving acting assignments. Her first roles were in an episode of the CBS television series “The Agency” and a television film called “The Brady Bunch in the White House” and another project called “Inhabited”.
Rise to Fame
Over the next few years, Sofia’s career skyrocketed with projects like “Eloise at the Plaza” and “Eloise at Christmastime”, “Medium”, and “My Sister’s Keeper”. In the television movies “Eloise at the Plaza” and “Eloise at Christmastime”, she played the lead role of Eloise, a fun-loving six-year-old girl. Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Leading Young Actress in a TV Movie, Miniseries, or Special at the 2004 Young Artist Awards. In the supernatural television series “Medium”, she portrayed Patricia Arquette’s daughter, Ariel DuBois, and won the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama at the Young Artist Award in 2006. In the movie “My Sister’s Keeper”, she played the role of a teenage cancer patient named Kate Fitzgerald. Sofia Vassilieva was born on October 22, 1992, in Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. Her parents are originally from Russia and moved to the USA from Novosibirsk. Her father, Vladimir Vassilieva, is a physicist, and her mother, Larissa Vassilieva, is a biologist. Sofia excelled academically, attending Concord High School in Santa Monica, CA, and later studying at Columbia University in New York City. She completed her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in May 2014, majoring in Linguistics with honors and a special concentration in Business Management. She also studied acting at Barbizon Modelling and Acting School and completed the Acting Shakespeare course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
Sofia is multilingual, fluent in French, English, Russian, American Sign Language, Spanish, and several other languages. She has also pursued interests in ballet, gymnastics, piano, horseback riding, and yoga.
