Career
Tena Desae began her career in the entertainment industry after participating in the contest ‘Get Gorgeous’. She was signed to Elite Model India Management and started appearing in commercials and runway shows. In 2011, she made her film debut in the movie ‘Yeh Faasley’, which received critical acclaim. That same year, she also appeared in the Hindi-language film ‘Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande’, which was well-received by the audience.
In 2012, Desae had a cameo role in the movie ‘Cocktail’ and also made her international film debut in ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’. The film was a British comedy drama about a group of British pensioners who move to a retirement hotel in India. Following the success of the film, Desae appeared in the Bollywood adventure thriller ‘Table No.21’ in 2013.
Desae continued to work in both Indian and international projects. She reprised her role in ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ in 2015 and also appeared in the American sci-fi web television series ‘Sense8’. In the same year, she played a lead role in the film ‘Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene’. In 2016, Desae lent her voice to the character of Ashima in the animated film ‘Thomas & Friends: The Great Race’. In 2018, she played Aditi Singh in the Hindi-language action thriller ‘Dassehra’.
Since 2018, Desae has been voicing her recurring character Ashima in the British-American series ‘Thomas and Friends’.
