Tito Jackson, an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter, rose to fame as a member of the iconic pop band The Jackson 5. Born into a family of musicians, Tito began playing the guitar at a young age and formed a singing group with his siblings. The group, later known as The Jackson 5, achieved tremendous success in the 1960s and 1970s. Afterward, Tito embarked on a solo career as a blues musician and continued to make a name for himself in the music industry. Childhood & Early Life

Tito Jackson was born on October 15, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, USA to Joseph and Katherine Jackson. He had nine siblings. At the age of ten, he was caught playing his father’s guitar and his talent was recognized by his father. His father convinced him to play alongside his brothers Jackie and Jermaine as part of a trio. By the time Tito Jackson was 12, his younger brother Michael had become the lead singer of the group and Marlon had also joined them.

Career

In 1965, Tito Jackson’s group changed their name to the Jackson Five (The Jackson 5). They started participating in talent shows and eventually signed to Steeltown Records in 1967. After releasing their first song “Big Boy” with the label, they left it and signed with Motown. During their tenure at Motown, they released numerous hits including the #1 singles “ABC”, “I Want You Back”, “I’ll Be There”, and “The Love You Save”. Tito and three of his brothers joined Epic Records in 1975 and recorded five albums from 1976 to 1981, including ‘Destiny’ and ‘Triumph’, both of which were successful. They also released the hit songs “Can You Feel It”, “Shake Your Body”, and “Enjoy Yourself”. In the 1970s, Tito Jackson also began writing songs. After releasing ‘2300 Jackson Street’ in 1989, his group stopped recording. In 2003, he started performing solo in various clubs and later served as a judge on BBC’s ‘Just the Two of Us’. He also served as the executive producer of the reality television series ‘The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty’ in 2009.

Major Work

On December 21, 2016, Tito Jackson released his first solo album titled ‘Tito Time’ under Epic Records. The album became a hit and spawned the hit single “Get It Baby” which featured Big Daddy Kane. Some of the other songs on the album are “When the Magic Happens”, “Put it on Me”, “We Made it”, and “One Way Street”.

Family & Personal Life

Tito Jackson married Delores Martes in 1972 and had three sons, Toriano Adaryll Jackson, Jr., Taryll Adren Jackson, and Tito Joe Jackson, all of whom are musicians and comprise the group 3T. The couple divorced in 1988. In 1994, Martes was murdered by a Los Angeles businessman named Donald Bohana.
