Acting Career

Yasmine Al Massri made her big screen début in 2007 with the critically acclaimed LGBT-themed comedy-drama movie, ‘Caramel.’ This Lebanese project, directed by Nadine Labaki, premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. For her performance in ‘Caramel,’ Massri earned the Best Actress Award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival held that year along with an Asia Pacific Screen Award nomination for Best Actress.

In 2008, she appeared in the internationally produced film, ‘Al-mor wa al rumman.’ This was followed by two more such films named ‘Miral’ and ‘Al Juma Al Akheira.’

In 2014, Massri made her American television début, appearing in the starring role of Selima El Sharad on NBC’s ‘Crossbones,’ opposite John Malkovich. From 2015 to 2017, she was cast alongside Indian actress Priyanka Chopra in ABC’s thriller series ‘Quantico.’ Massri appeared as the identical twins Nimah and Raina Amin in the show. Yasmine Al Massri started her dancing career in 2000 when she joined Thouraya Baghdadi’s Dance Company in Paris. Yasmine Al Massri was born on November 21, 1978 in Lebanon to an Egyptian mother and a Palestinian father. She moved to Paris to pursue her studies, eventually graduating from École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 2007 with a degree in multimedia and live performance.

In May 2016, the actress cum dancer became a citizen of America. Currently, she resides in Los Angeles with her husband, producer and actor, Michael Desante. The couple has a son named Liam. The actress has lived in many different countries and is fluent in numerous languages, including Arabic, English, Spanish and French.
