Yogeeta Bali, a former Hindi film actress, is known for her notable contributions to the Bollywood industry. Born in Mumbai, India, she made her debut at the young age of eighteen in the psychological thriller film ‘Parwana’, alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Throughout her career spanning nearly two decades, Yogeeta appeared in various films such as ‘Memsaab’, ‘Sazaa’, and ‘Banarasi Babu’. Notably, she was married to the legendary actor and singer Kishore Kumar before tying the knot with Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty. Career
Yogeeta Bali began her career in 1971, in the psychological thriller film ‘Parwana’. She next starred in the drama film ‘Ganga Tera Paani Amrit’. She was seen in the three other films the same year, which were ‘Memsaab’, ‘Mere Apne’ and ‘Parde Ke Peechey’.
In 1972, she was seen in the action film ‘Zameen Aasmaan’, which was directed by A Veerappan. She next appeared in the films ‘Sazaa’ and ‘Buniyaad’. In 1973, she starred alongside Dev Anand in the film ‘Banarasi Babu’. Though she appeared in several other films the same year, most of her films bombed at the box office and she also played roles that were rejected by mainstream actresses.
Her career however reached a turning point after she appeared in ‘Yauwan’ in 1973. She played a woman with psychological problems, who falls madly in love with her psychiatrist. Her popularity increased after her performance and the next year, she appeared in a total of ten movies, which include ‘Ajanabee’, ‘Kisan Aur Bhagwan’ and ‘Charitraheen’.
In 1975, she appeared in only one film ‘Zindagi Aur Toofan’, which was directed by Umesh Mathur. In 1976, she appeared in the film ‘Sawa Lakh Se Ek Ladaun’. The film was about Kartar, a Hindu boy in the Mughal era, who converts to Sikhism, and takes up arms against the oppressive Mughal regime. She was also seen in the fantasy horror thriller ‘Nagin’, which was directed by Rajkumar Kohli. The film was inspired by a French film named ‘The Bride Wore Black’, which itself was based on Cornell Woolrich’s novel of the same name. She had appeared in three other films the same year, which were ‘Mehbooba’, ‘Khaan Dost’, and ‘Lagaam’.
Her next significant movie was the 1978 action drama film ‘Karmayogi’. In 1979, she was seen in the film ‘Jaani Dushman’. Directed by Rajkumar Kohli, the film starred Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Jeetendra and Vinod Mehra. Some of her works in the 1980s are ‘Be-shaque’, (1981), ‘Yeh Ishq Nahin Aasaan’, (1983), ‘Raaj Tilak’, (1984), and ‘Mera Karam Mera Dharam’ (1987).
In 1989, she appeared in only one film ‘Aakhri Badla’, which was directed by Mangal Chakraborty. It starred other actors such as Mithun Chakraborty, Prem Chopra and Tom Alter. It was the last movie of her career.

Yogeeta Bali was born in Mumbai, India, on 13th August, 1952. Her parents were Jaswant and Haridarshan Kaur. She married Kishore Kumar, in 1976, but they got divorced after two years. In 1979, she married Mithun Chakraborty. They have three sons and one adopted daughter.
